that Set them Apart from iPhones ?
The invention of smartphones has drastically changed how we operate globally. Before, mobile users were limited to text messaging and voice calls. In years gone by, if you want to surf the internet, play game, read the news, read a book, check the weather, watch a video, or track your diet you had to be in front of a computer and go online. Thankfully, today, with the advent of smartphones all these things are possible for persons on the go.
Android is a type of operating system for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs. It is developed by a team that call themselves the Open Headset Alliance, led mainly by Google. This software has a large number of developers who create applications that offer functionality never before seen in previous mobile devices. So by now you are must be curious to find out "What are Android phones?" Well, they are smart phones equipped with the Android operating system. There are several options to choose from if you are considering to buy an Android phone. Mobile phone manufacturers such as Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, HTC and Dell all use the Android system in most of their units. The HTC One S, HTC Evo 3D and HTC Rezound are three of the most popular units if you are going to purchase a HTC Android Phone. If you are looking for a Motorola Android phone, the Droid Razr Maxx, Droid Razr, and Droid Bionic are the best ones on the market. To date the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Epic Touch 4G and Galaxy S II are the best Samsung Android phone.
Now, let’s answer the second question – what makes Android phones uniquely different from the iPhone? There are so many differences between Apple products and Android phones, especially when it comes to browsing options, desktop management and design, notification system, and app market. 1) Browsing Option - Android phones have probably the best browsers on the market. The iPhone has Safari as its only browser while Android phones have three browsers, namely Dolphin, Opera Mini and the default browser. Even better, the Android browsers have Flash support, which the Apple browser still doesn't have. 2) Desktop Management and Design - Unlike the iPhone that has its icons scattered on its desktop the Android phones add active widgets on the desktop that is always accessible and visible even without launching the application itself. Widgets are available for all application in the Android Market - from viewing the calendar, checking the dictionary, checking the weather, playing music to keeping up to date on Facebook - everything is easily accessible because of widgets. On the other hand you are forced to flip through their app list to locate and launch each application. For example, if you want to check the current weather condition, you'll have to find the app, launch it, and then wait for it to load. All this information can be directly displayed directly on your desktop with just a finger swipe.
3 ) Notification System - With Android, all apps can have access to the notification system which makes viewing reports easier. For example, if you have Facebook, it is not necessary to open the app to find out if you have notifications .With Android you receive alerts of new messages, voice messages, Facebook notifications, etc. all in just one window. 4 ) App market - Currently the Apple Appstore has more than 180,000 applications, however it is expected that the Android market will catch up in the near future. While the Appstore comes out on top when it comes to the number of apps, the Android market is a completely open market. You don't have to bother entering a password for the free apps(like iPhone) every time you install anything. On the other hand, for paid apps, you simple enter your information on the Google Market one time and you're done. Manufacturers are constantly creating new Android phones every year. And although Android hasn’t completely slain Apple’s handset yet, analysts predict that it will be dubbed “iPhone killer” in the next couple of years.
